In 1993 the 9th round of the International Motor Sport Association (IMSA) championship was held on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington. 14 Porsches were on the starting grid, including Giampiero Moretti in his usual red Momo livery. Together with the Dutchman Van Der Merwe, Moretti finished 6th in the race and third in his class.
